The Human Rights component recognizes that persons living with HIV(PLWHIV) as well as other minorities and indigenous population like the Mbororo, women and youths have rights to access information, prevention, treatment, care and support, education, food, health etc. CAEPA Cameroon’s advocacy focus in the days ahead will be to continue to educate these groups of persons on their rights and also lobby government to change some of the policies that violates the rights of persons living with HIV/AIDS, women, girls, the disabled and other minority groups like the Mbororo who are not treated fairly and because of this they suffer from various forms of oppression, exploitation, marginalization and discrimination. CAEPA Cameroon also recognizes the fact that women and the marginalized groups are poorly represented in power structures and decision making process and, as such, their ideas, opinions and contributions are absent during decision making. Besides, because they are marginalized, they also suffer other negative effects such as low self esteem, lack of confidence, poverty, exposure to HIV, deprivation of their property etc. CAEPA Cameroon intends to use the following strategies to advocate for the rights of these marginalized groups;
Organize radio talks over the Cameroon Radio Television North West and other local radio stations, caravan marches with the use of t-shirts and banners with advocacy messages, use sketches during public occasions in the presence of government officials and other stakeholders in the region. Flyers and posters will be produced and distributed; petition signing and memos will be addressed to the communities that are concerned.
