The component of environmental and natural resource management works to support processes of natural resource management and environmental friendly practices in communities. In this domain, our activities are geared towards the protection of water catchments, hygiene and sanitation, and biodiversity conservation.
Due to intensive human activities in watershed areas, many permanent springs are becoming seasonal while seasonal ones are disppearing completely. In an effort to safeguard the further availability of water, CAEPA Cameroon is working closely with rural communities to protect their watershed and catchments. Protection is acquired through conservation farming, afforestation/reforestation, agroforestry and demarcation of protected zones. CAEPA Cameroon carries out trainings of water management committees, caretakers of the water supply system and the catchments area. Furthermore, community forest management is agmonst our priorities. CAEPA Cameroon is also involved in the sustainable management of community forests. We are assisting the communities of Balikumbat/Bamunkumbit/Bafanji in Ngoketunjia Division and Olorunti in Widikum sub-division to obtain and manage their community forest.
Additionally, Earth Demand Action (E.D.A) is a global network campaign launch by Community Agriculture and Environmental Protection Association (CAEPA Cameroon) in Bamenda, Cameroon. This campaign is striving to create awareness on the present environmental problems and their impact to the planet. This campaign also aims at mobilizing communities to join in the planting of trees to mitigate the impact of climate change. CAEPA Cameroon is creating environmental clubs in schools in the North West Region and raising awareness on environmental issues communities.
